Mitsubishi: CVD diamond coated WSTAR drill series MCS type

The MCS-type drill is a new series of drills for CFRP (Carbon Fiber reinforced plastics) material hole drilling in the field of aviation and other industries based on the popular WSTAR drill bit. Since CFRP has high hardness and high strength with carbon fiber, the life of the tool is extremely short. In addition, the multi-layer laminate structure causes problems such as delamination of the workpiece during hole processing. Depending on the processing location, composite sheet processing of CFRP and aluminum alloy sheets is also encountered. In this case, the machinability of the two is different, and processing becomes more difficult.

The MCS type drill adopts the specialized cutting edge design and multi-layer particle CVD diamond coating required for the processing of composite plate holes of CFRP, CFRP and aluminum alloy plates, achieving excellent hole machining accuracy and long tool life. In addition, the cooling hole shape developed by Mitsubishi has been used, which greatly improves the chip removal performance when processing composite plates of CFRP, CFRP and aluminum alloy plates, and achieves excellent machining accuracy.

MCS type drills mainly have the following characteristics:
