Small diameter single-blade carbide reamer (figure)

For reamer diameters less than 10 mm, it is difficult to insert cemented carbide materials, so the application of carbide small diameter reamer is rare. This improves the life of the small-diameter reamer, as well as the reaming accuracy and surface roughness of the small holes, which are greatly hindered, often affecting product quality and production efficiency. To this end, we have designed a single-edged small-diameter reamer with the structure shown in the figure.

1. Reamer structure features

The material of the reamer head is cemented carbide YG8, YT5, YT15 and the like. The arbor is made of tool steel T8, T12 or high speed steel W9Cr4V2. According to the material of the machined parts, the reamer angle γo=0~10° makes it sharper. The main deflection angle κr = 5 ° ~ 45 ° (machined steel κr = 15 ° ~ 25 ° is better). The tip of the knife is 0.02 to 0.05 mm above the center line. The reamer is cut by a single blade, and the opposite blade of the blade has the function of damping and squeezing the finished surface and reducing the surface roughness value of the hole. The reamer has a large chip pocket, and the cutting fluid enters and exits smoothly and easily. The reamer is guided by its own body, which can process deeper holes with better straightness. When the through hole is reamed, a structure with a blade inclination angle λs=10° can be used to guide the chips to the front.

2. Precautions

The reamer holding blade portion should have a certain strength. The hardness of the body part should be greater than 50HRC to improve the wear resistance of the body and prevent the chips from jamming on the surface of the body and parts, and destroy the surface quality of the parts. When reaming, it is better to use a certain cutting fluid to align the sipe, which is good for chip removal, which can reduce the surface roughness of the parts and improve the tool life.

3. Application effect

The reamer can ream the hole of 7 grades of various materials (including steel with quenching hardness of 45HRC). The surface roughness of the reamed parts: steel and cast iron Ra=0.8μm, aluminum and copper Ra=0.4μm. The life of the reamer is nearly 10 times higher than that of the high-speed steel reamer, and it can be used for high-speed cutting, which greatly improves production efficiency.
