If weeds are used to feed sows, the use ratio is higher, and more concentrate can be saved, which reduces the production cost.

In areas where the supply of concentrate feed is tight or the concentrate is insufficient, growing grass and raising pigs is a better method. In modern pig production, it is an inevitable trend to achieve sustainable development of the pig industry.

This time, at the 31st Expo in Guangzhou, I listened to the lecture “The application of High-quality Pasture in Modern Pig Production” by Mr. Liu Yanfen from the Agricultural College of Guangdong Ocean University. I shared the relevant knowledge I learned: According to news reports, the shortage of feed ingredients in China has become an important factor limiting the sustained and stable development of the pig industry in China. In fact, it also includes food, and the pig industry needs feed and food. At present, the price of food and compound feed tends to rise, resulting in a significant increase in farming costs. In order to alleviate the contradiction between the pig industry and the environment, the grass (green feed) food generation is the trend of sustainable development of the pig industry.

With the selection and introduction of high-quality forage species, the variety of supporting processing machinery is increasing, and high-quality pasture is feasible in pig breeding. Let us first understand the characteristics of green feed:

1. High water content (about 60%-80%)

The use of pasture in grass growing pigs

Planting pigs must choose suitable forage species, and combine the seasons to determine the way the grass is raised. In summer and autumn, the grass-raising pigs are fed directly with fresh grass as the main method of forage utilization; in winter and spring, the grass with high-quality grass powder or beating silage is used as a mixed feed ingredient.

1. Forage fresh feeding method: Forage planting time is selected in spring and summer, planting saplings such as glutinous rice, polymer grass, chicory, etc. Fresh grass added accounts for 15% to 30% of the diet, and 1 mu for every 10 pigs. grass.

2. The method of using grass to be added to the concentrate to feed: the planting varieties are alfalfa, Mexican corn, high-dan grass, etc. Fresh grass can be used in summer and autumn, and added to the diet in winter and spring.
