Modernization of the shipbuilding industry, the machine tool industry welcomes new challenges and new opportunities

The shipbuilding industry is a technology-intensive, capital-intensive and labor-intensive industry. In the past ten years, China's shipbuilding industry has fully utilized China's labor cost comparative advantage and achieved rapid development. The proportion in the global market is rising significantly, and China has become one of the important shipbuilding centers in the world.

I. Rapid development of China's shipbuilding industry

According to the statistics of China Shipbuilding Industry Association, in the first half of 2008, the national shipbuilding completion volume was 10.24 million deadweight tons, up 36% year-on-year; the new ship orders were 36.64 million DWT, down 14% year-on-year; the hand-held ship orders were 1921.17 million DWT, year-on-year. Growth of 82%. According to statistics from the UK's Clarkson Research Corporation on the total shipbuilding volume in the world, China's shipbuilding completion, new ship orders and hand-held ship orders accounted for 26%, 39% and 34% of the world market respectively.

The data shows that the quality of economic operations of China's shipbuilding industry in the first half of 2008 has significantly improved, major economic indicators have grown substantially, ship export growth has been strong, ship support has accelerated, and ship repairs have grown rapidly.

Second, the problems facing the development of China's shipbuilding industry

The industrial transfer of the international manufacturing industry has provided a great opportunity for the development of China's shipbuilding industry. During the "Eleventh Five-Year Plan" period, the Chinese shipbuilding industry will form a powerful challenge to the leading position of Korea and Japan. However, the backward design ability and the lagging development of supporting industries will be the main bottleneck restricting the development of the industry.

The Chinese government attaches great importance to the development of the shipbuilding industry. The key areas to achieve major breakthroughs in the "Several Opinions of the State Council on Accelerating the Revitalization of the Equipment Manufacturing Industry" include the development of large-scale offshore petroleum engineering equipment, 300,000 tons of ore and crude oil carriers, and floating at sea. Production of oil storage tanks, more than 10,000 boxes of container ships, LNG carriers and other large high-tech, high value-added ships and high-power diesel engines and other ancillary equipment. The Medium and Long-Term Plan for the Shipbuilding Industry proposes that China will focus on the construction of three major shipbuilding bases around the Bohai Bay, the Yangtze River estuary and the Pearl River Estuary. By 2010, China’s main development and construction of its main ships will reach international standards, and the annual shipbuilding capacity will reach 23 million. Tons, with an annual output of 17 million deadweight tons, the average installed capacity of domestic marine equipment has reached more than 60%. At the end of the "11th Five-Year Plan", China's shipbuilding output will account for more than 25% of the world market share; by 2015, China's shipbuilding output will account for more than 35% of the world's total, making it a world-class shipbuilding power.

China's shipbuilding industry has formed a relatively reasonable structure. It is imperative to improve the manufacturing capacity of marine auxiliary equipment and key components and reduce imports to improve production efficiency and reduce manufacturing costs.

Although China's shipbuilding volume has already ranked in the forefront of the world, the shipbuilding technology is different from the foreign advanced level by more than 10 years. In particular, the ship supporting capacity is insufficient, and the key supporting parts are dependent on imports. This has become the bottleneck for the development of China's shipbuilding industry. Nearly 80% of the key equipment for ships needs to be imported, and the self-sufficiency rate of Japan and South Korea is over 90%. Therefore, the ship supporting equipment is solved. And key components are the key to the development of China's shipbuilding industry.

Third, the challenges and opportunities facing the machine tool industry

The development of the shipbuilding industry has significantly increased the demand for the machine tool industry, providing a rare business opportunity for the development and improvement of China's machine tool industry. To develop China's shipbuilding industry, it is necessary to overcome the bottleneck of importing key supporting equipment for ships and improve the independent development and manufacturing capabilities of key supporting equipment. One of the main reasons for the formation of marine key supporting equipment relying on the bottleneck of import is that high-end heavy-duty CNC machining equipment can not meet the processing requirements of key parts of the ship. Therefore, it is necessary to solve the high-end CNC machine tools urgently needed for the manufacture of key marine equipment, especially heavy-duty, precision CNC. Machine tools have become a top priority.

China's major shipbuilding industry

China's shipbuilding production enterprises are mainly concentrated in the Bohai Bay, Yangtze River Delta and Pearl River Delta regions. among them:

Dalian Shipai mainly produces heavy-duty ship main engines. The key machining parts include the bases, frames, crankshafts, connecting rods and cranks of medium and low-speed diesel engines:

Dalian Ship Push is China's largest professional manufacturer of marine propellers. With nearly 40 years of experience in the production of marine propellers, it can produce super-large marine propellers with a diameter of 11m and a finished product weight of 100t.

Wuhan Heavy Industry mainly provides various large and medium-sized marine shafting, rudder, propeller, marine large diesel engine crankshaft, medium speed diesel engine crankshaft and low speed diesel engine for shipbuilding, aerospace, water conservancy and electric power, petrochemical, mining and metallurgy, machinery manufacturing and other industries. The components are professional supporting bases for casting and forging parts of China's shipbuilding industry and large-diameter thick-walled seamless steel pipe production bases;

Qingdao Haixi, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Wuhan Heavy Industry Co., Ltd., mainly produces large-scale marine diesel crankshafts. It has an annual capacity of 50 crankshafts. Its goal is to become China's largest professional supporting base for large-scale marine diesel crankshafts and moving parts.

Dalian Heavy Industry Lift Group's service areas mainly include metallurgical, mining, energy, transportation, chemical, building materials, grain storage, urban construction and other national economic basic industries. Its products have begun to expand into wind turbines, large marine crankshafts, tunnel boring machines and other fields. .
