The total weight of the equipment is 330 tons. It is mainly used for the shielding and transfer of radioactive spent fuel storage tanks. It has the characteristics of complete shielding, accurate positioning, safety and reliability, and high degree of automation.

High-temperature gas-cooled reactor is an advanced nuclear power reactor type with the fourth-generation nuclear energy system security features with independent intellectual property rights in China. The Shidao Bay high-temperature reactor demonstration project is the world's first modular high-temperature gas-cooled reactor nuclear power plant. Spent fuel vehicles and shield complete sets of equipment are key equipment for this project. According to the construction plan, this equipment will be pre-introduced at the construction site of Shidao Bay, Shandong in early 2015, becoming the first large-scale equipment for the demonstration project to be completed.

During the nearly four years of scientific research and manufacturing process, Taizhong Group and Tsinghua Nuclear Research Institute have worked closely together to carry out a large number of innovative designs and solved a number of major technical issues, such as the overall design of the equipment and the automatic precision of the vehicle. Positioning, development of spent fuel storage tanks and automatic spreader covers, seismic analysis of equipment, development of baseplates, and shield lifting devices. In order to ensure the smooth development of the equipment, Taizhong Group has set up a project team headed by the general manager to carry out research and development and manufacturing.
