Every year, the Los Angeles Auto Show has a theme of Design Challenge. This year's theme is "Biomimicry & Mobility 2025-Nature's Answer to Human Challenges". The BMW Creativity Design Team combines the greatest traffic problems with untapped and underutilized transport systems (waterways).

A concept car, the Mini Cooper module, was created using the principle that, under the action of certain bacteria, a chemical reaction of hydrogen fuel is produced when salt is mixed with fresh water. This not only generates energy, but also uses the water input and output system as the propulsion force of the cabin.
