Professor Tian Yongjun of Yanshan University won the Outstanding Contribution Award of Science and Technology in Hebei Province

Recently, the reporter learned from Qinhuangdao Science and Technology Bureau that the provincial party committee and the provincial government recently held the Hebei Provincial Science and Technology Awards Conference in Shijiazhuang. The 20 achievements of Qinhuangdao City won the provincial science and technology award. Professor Yan Yongjun of Yanshan University won the 2016 Science of Hebei Province. The Technology Outstanding Contribution Award was recognized at the meeting.
It is understood that among the 20 scientific research results hosted by Qinhuangdao City, 1 provincial science and technology outstanding contribution award; 3 provincial technology invention awards; 12 provincial science and technology progress awards; and 3 provincial third prizes. In 2016, the province won a total of two outstanding contributions to science and technology. Professor Tian Yongjun relied on the research and development of nanocrystalline twin-structured diamond and cubic boron nitride bulk, in the synthesis of polycrystalline superhard materials and the hardening mechanism of superhard materials. He has made breakthrough progress and won the 2016 Hebei Province Science and Technology Outstanding Contribution Award and spoke on behalf of the winners at the conference.
Biography:
Tian Yongjun, born in 1963, received a master's degree in materials science from Northeast Heavy Machinery College (now Yanshan University) in 1987. He received his Ph.D. degree in condensed matter physics from the Institute of Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences in 1994. In 2001, he was hired by the Ministry of Education as a special professor of the Yangtze River Scholars Award Program and the first Changjiang Scholar in Hebei Province. In 2002, he won the National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars. He is currently the dean of the School of Materials Science and Engineering of Yanshan University, the executive director of the China Instrument and Materials Society, the executive director of the Materials Branch of the China Mechanical Engineering Society, and the special reviewer of the journals such as Physical Review Letters, Physical Review B, Applied Physics Letters, and Journal of Physics. Member of the State Key Laboratory of Hard Materials and the Academic Committee of the State Key Laboratory of Metastable Materials Preparation Technology and Science.
Character experience:
In 1996, he was selected into the first and second levels of the “100 Million Talent Project” of the Ministry of Personnel. In August 1996, he was engaged in the research of high temperature superconducting quantum interference devices at the Institute of Solid State Physics of Jena University, funded by the German Humboldt Foundation. In September 1998, he returned to the School of Materials Science and Chemical Engineering of Yanshan University as a doctoral tutor. From November 1998 to October 1999, he was a senior visiting scholar at the National Superconductivity Laboratory of the Institute of Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences. In 2001, he was appointed as a Distinguished Professor of the Yangtze River Scholars Award Program. In 2002, he was awarded the National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars. In 2011, he won the second prize of the National Natural Science Award. He is currently the dean of the School of Materials Science and Engineering at Yanshan University and the executive director of the Institute of Instrument Materials of the China Instrument and Control Society.
